OPEN DOOR GALLERY

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where do all these artists live?
All the artists who have pieces in the gallery live and work within a 50 mile radius of Sturgis.

Is the art here original by the artist?
All the work on display is original work by the artist. Sometimes prints of original 2D work are made, but these are certified as
being from original works by that artist.

I love this artist's work--where can I learn how to do it? Does she have any workshops?
Many of the artists do teach workshops or give private lessons. Contact that artist you have questions about. Go to the page       listing all the members for contact information.

I understand the gallery is entiredly self supporting and partly dependent on contributions--how can I help?
The gallery is supported by volunteers, contributions from sponsors, fund raising events and sales of art works. You can help
by a monetary contribution,  donation of office supplies, attending fund raisers and your purchase of art work.  If you are          looking for a gift,  for birthdays, anniversaries or other special occasions, check out the gallery for unique one of a kind gifts.
We thank you for helping support our efforts to unlock the door to the arts in Sturgis.

Do you have gift certificates?
Yes! Take the worry out of selecting the "right" gift with the purchase of a gift certificate.

What are "Christmas Artists" and how do I become such artist?
The purpose of the Christmas Artist program is to enable artists who do not wish to become full members, an opportunity to sell their work during this prime gift buying season.
--No membership dues are required.  No shift work is required.
--There is a $25 nonrefundable fee due when the work is dropped off.  The Gallery receives a 20 % commission on all sales.
-- The program runs from Nov. 1 through Jan.  31.  To take full advantage of this program, work should be delivered to the Gallery as early in Nov. as possible.
--The quality of the work must be equal to that of the work currently shown at the Gallery.  The Gallery reserves the right to accept or reject any work.  The Gallery assumes no responsibility for loss of or damage to any work.
--Unsold work must be picked up in early Feb.  Checks will be sent at regular Gallery intervals, once a month.
--All work must be clearly labeled with the Gallery inventory system and priced. This would be starting with “X” and then your 3 name initials.  Then each piece is numbered.  Example- Kate Ann Benson=     XKAB-01
--Please complete the information form below and include it with your work.  Release forms and inventory sheets are available at the Gallery when the work is dropped off. If you have any questions, please contact the Gallery or Sarah Kalasky at 269-651-1650 (home),
