Artist Profile
Gail Suess-Brandow
Biography
Gsil is an artist of many
mediums: collage, watercolor, pastel, colored pencil, monotype, stained
glass, photography ink, whatever best fits the subject. She has been a
successful freelance artist and illustrator for over thirty years. Her
list of exhibitions includes nine solo shows, numerous juried
regional, national and international exhibitions, and invitationals.
Suess-Brandow has exhibited at the national Arts Club in New York, and
has won many awards, including first prize in Drawing at the Colorado
Arts Symposium. Her experience also includes two years as Art Editor
for the Owen Wister Review, Laramine Wyoming, and painting seven
children's books published by School Zone Publishers, Grand Haven. She
enjoys sharing her love of art with others through teaching and
collaborating (and sharing her gaarden produce!)
Gail currently teaches Art full time at St. Philip Middle
and High Schools in Battle Creek. She has also taught a
variety of classes around the country. Her Master of Fine Arts degree
is from the University of Wyoming, and she holds a Master of Arts
degree from Eastern Illinois University. She has traveled extensively
and has taken painting courses at Parsons School of Design in New York
City (her favorite part of the Big Apple, though, after all the
museums, is Shakespearean Theatre!).
